Caesars
This is a picture I took of the Ceasars building in Downtown Windsor on Monday, October 16th, 2017. Originally, I had already taken my pictures for the shadow assignment and had in mind the ones I was going to use for my website. Though, when I drove by it with my mom and saw the building all lit up I decided to take a picture and instantly I changed my mind about which pictures were going on my site. This picture doesn't contain any silhouette shadows like those of a person but instead it has those dark shadow areas by the windows and in the left side of the photo. I really liked the colour scheme of this photo and the way the lines on the building all point in a certain direction leading you around the picture. Another thing that made me choose this photo was the whole atmosphere of it, the colours, flashy lights and dark edges remind me of the night life in a place like vegas or Miami.
I started editing this photo by messing around with the exposure and bringing it down a bit so it wasn't so bright. Next I brought the shadows down and turned the saturation up so the dark areas would remain dark and the colourful areas would pop. The last thing I did was make sure my whites were white and my blacks were black, and there you have it.

Laurence's Hand
I took this picture in my cabin in Muskoka on October 14th, 2017 at around 10 o'clock when the lights went off in all the cabins so there was some darkness to create shadows. The kid sleeping in the bunk above me named Laurence was always playing with his flashlight after the lights went off and it really irritated me but I realized that I did need pictures of shadows and the flashlight would create them. So, Laurence shone the light on his hand and a silhouette appeared on the floor so I snapped a picture. I chose this picture because I like the way that there are two shadows, one grey and one black. I also like the smoothness of the shadow and clarity of the overall picture.
Editing this photo was very simple as it was not a complicated photo in the beginning and there weren't many colours or shapes to deal with in general. First I just cropped out all the dirty laundry surrounding the edges of the photo as they looked extremely out of place in the photo. Next I turned down the exposure and shadows a tad bit, turned down my blacks and whites and reduced the noise so there wasn't any grainyness.

The Chandelier
I took this photo of a chandelier in my dining room hanging directly over my dining table. This photo does not contain any silhouette shadows but rather clumps of shadows that form darkness. I really liked this picture because about half of it is dark while the other half is light and the chandelier looks to be literally separating the light from the dark by being inbetween the two. I also liked how the light shimmered and reflected off the glass and metal parts of the chandelier, I think it really adds to the whole makeup of the photo. Another thing about this photo that I like is when I look at it for some reason I get a sense a warmth due to the colours, as if the picture is emitting heat or something like that.
While editing this photo, I focused on lights and darks and not much else. First I turned down the exposure so the dark areas would become darker. Next I boosted the saturation a bit, turned up the contrast a bit, threw up the vibrance a bit and turned the temperature up a bit to give that feeling of warmth while keeping the dark intact.
