The Family
I took this picture of my dining table on thanksgiving of 2017 right before we all dove into our plates of food. I chose this picture because it is of my family eating at my great aunts dining table in our own house. Myself and the rest of my family appreciate each other very much and always make sure to show thanks so to celebrate thanksgiving we brought out my great aunts dining table to remember her for how much she did for us. My family does a lot for me, and I'm not just talking about the family I live with, that applies to all my distant and non-blood related family as well. My mom always makes sure there's something on the table for me whenever I'm hungry, my dad always works his hardest for all of us and my brothers keep me company among all the other things they do for me so to say I'm thankful for them would be an understatement. Overall, the main point in trying to get across is obviously that this picture was definitely one of my favourites because it contains those that I am the absolute most thankful for.
When I took this picture, I was trying to get an aerial view because it was something I hadn't done before and I liked how aerial shots look. It turned out nice and I got straight to editing. While editing, I wanted to focus on the crop (as usual) to get rid of unnessecary things and centre the table. After that I gave the photo a nice white balance by clicking on the white table cloth with the white balance tool. Next I worked on little things like making sure the whites were white, the blacks were black, the saturation and the vibrance. To finish it all off, I turned the sharpness up a tad bit and reduced the noise of the photo. In the end I think it turned out a nice photo!

Broccoli
I also took this picture on thanksgiving of 2017 using a macrolens to get all the tiny close up details. As you can probably tell, the picture is of a fork wedged into a juicy piece of broccoli surrounded by cranberry sauce. I chose this picture for two reasons; That I am thankful for food and just how it turned out with all the tiny details and such. Food may seem basic to all but thanksgiving really made me think about how much of a privilege it is to always have a full plate and and a full stomach. All over the world people go hungry, whether it's 100 miles away or right around the corner from your house, Hunger and starvation are huge problems in today's world and to never have to think about when my next meal will be is a privilege enough, but the thing is I always assume I will have food to eat and that isn't the case for a lot of people so I think I should be a bit more appreciative for something so simple. I don't think I can do too much to put an end to world hunger but the least I can do is be thankful for the food on my plate, in my stomach, and the person or people who prepare my food. As well as eating food, I worked in a restaurant where I made food so it's easy to say that I really love food and the flavours it contains. In all, food is another big thing I am thankful for as it keeps me on my toes, happy, and well alive.
I didn't need to crop this photo because when I took it, it turned out how I wanted. To bring out the colour I put up the saturation and vibrance, then i made sure my blacks were black and my whites were white. This picture didn't need too much editing in my opinion so I kind of left it alone besides the minor touch ups in colour and detail. Overall it turned out very nice and I thought it would be a perfect picture to portray one of the things I am thankful for,

Zizi
I took this picture of my dog using a fish-eye lens during the weekend of thanksgiving 2017. This is my dog, her name is Zizi and I have so many reasons to be thankful for her I could go on for days. Out of all the pictures I have of her, I chose this picture because her smile, big tongue, vibrant coat and loving face sums up everything about her delightful nature. Zizi is one of the best things that has ever came into my house and ever since day one she has been the most loyal friend I could ever ask for. Without my dog I don't think I would have reached the potential I am at right now as she was always there for me and the family and for that I am extremely thankful for her and everything she has done for me and others. Zizi's essence is so kind and loving that just her being in the room provides comfort, she really is a good dog that I think goes underappreciated sometimes because the things she does aren't always noticed by those around, after all she is a dog. But because of her always being loyal, friendly, helpful, amusing, comforting and much more, I am very thankful for her and I decided to choose her as one of the 3 things I am thankful for in this assignment. One more reason why I chose this photo of Zizi rather than a different one is because I wanted to experiment with the fish-eye lens to see how the pictures would look and among the others this was my favorite.
While I was editing this photo, I focused heavily on the crop as there was A LOT to fix. First I cropped out the blurred edged surrounding the photo and continued to crop out the black smudge in the bottom right corner of the picture. Next i wanted to make the picture POP as the color was not very vibrant in the original and it made my dog look a bit boring. To change that, I put the saturation, contrast, and vibrance up which helped my dilemma so the photo looked more welcoming and happy. Lastly I put the sharpness up just a tad bit and I ended up with a picture that I liked.
